Prof. B.S.PATHAK - an excellent personality.

While in Ethiopia, through the contact of Prof Jain, I came across Prof Pathak in a get together party hosted by Prof. Jain. Intoduced to each other and I came to know that he is from PILANA- a town near to Chandpur and my town JHALU and he came to me from Jhalu. He got very much intested in me and later very often visited each other on many occasions.
Prof. Pathak was working as a FAO Expert in Ethiopia. A very simple, modest, knowledgeable person. He was always very kind , caring and affectionate to me as he I was his some very near relative. His excellent biographical details could be seen below:

Prof. B S Pathak 
Prof. B S Pathak was born in 1933 in village Pilana of Bijnor district, U.P. He obtained BSc. (Ag. Engg) degree from Allahabad University in 1951 and doctoral degree in Agricultural Engineering from Hohenheim Agricultural University (West Germany) in 1963. From 1951 to 1965, Prof. Pathak worked as Lecturer at SKN Agricultural Institute, Jobner; Agricultural Engineer, Darrang Community Project, Assam; Assistant Professor, B R College, Agra; and as Doctoral student at Hohenheim. From 1965 to 1985 he worked at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) as Associate Professor; first Professor-cum-Head; and Dean, College of Agricultural Engineering, first ICAR Professor of Eminence in Agricultural Engineering; and founding Director of the School of Energy Studies in Agriculture. In between (one year-1979) he worked as Team Leader of FAO/UNDP project in Sri Lanka to study and project future energy requirements of agriculture of that Country. In 1985, Prof. Pathak joined FAO as Project Manager to establish an Agricultural Implements Research and Development center in Ethiopia. He returned to India in1990. In 1997 he took over as Director of Sardar Patel Renewable Energy Research Institute and retired in 2010. He is Adjunct Professor in Agricultural Engineering Division of IARI, New Delhi. Prof. Pathak is Fellow of ISAE; Indian Standards Institute (now BIS); and National Academy of Agricultural Sciences. He was chairman of Scientific Panel of Agricultural Engineering of ICAR for three terms, member of Agricultural Mechanization Panel of FAO, chairman of Research Advisory Committees of Central Institutes of Agricultural Engineering, Post Harvest Technology and Soil Salinity Research. Prof. Pathak is a past Chief Editor of JAE and President of ISAE. In recognition of his contributions to the profession, the Society confers the Mason Vaugh Agricultural Engineering Pioneer Award- 2016 to Prof. B S Pathak
